Should YES Be Our Default ?

Today I wanted to discuss saying yes, specifically should YES be our default?

I don’t have an answer to this question, but I want to weigh up the pros and cons and let you decide if you want yes to be your default or not..

YES it should be:

Maybe saying yes all the time makes us happy. Some people love to say yes all the time to everyone and this keeps them happy. It would make them unhappy to say no. If this is you then I say why not, if it is making you happy and you don’t feel as though you are compromising yourself, then there is no reason to change.

I sometimes find in my life that the energy surrounding a yes is more positive then the energy surrounding a no. When yes is our default we are automatically a yes to life. That makes us happier and dissolves resistance. We can flow with our life and everything is swell. When we are constantly saying no that can makes us feel unhappy and uncooperative.

NO it should not be our default:

I have heard this saying a lot: If isn’t a HELL YES, it’s a no. Yes can’t always be our default. Surely it is better to say yes to the things that really excite us in life than saying yes to everything.

To achieve big things in life you will have to say no to the smaller things. We cannot say yes to everything, it is surely impossible. If you want big things out of life then sooner or later you will have to say no to littler things, to create space for the big stuff. So it is unrealistic if you have yes as your default.

Saying no to more things creates space for what is really important in our lives. The biggest recipe for failure is trying to make everyone happy. When we say yes constantly to things that are not making us happy then we will be sacrificing something. Say yes only to what is really important to you and that way you will life a more meaningful life.

So like I said, I really don’t have an answer to this. But I hope you have enjoyed reading through my (brief) points on either side of the argument.

In life we can often be caught in cycles of constantly saying yes or constantly saying no to things. Often we are not even aware that we are doing this, we just happen to have one answer as our default. It is good to become aware to this and observe what is your default and maybe why. When we can be present to what answers we give, then we make the right choices in life and they lead us to where we need to go. Rather than unconsciously making decisions and being unhappy with the outcome, we can take responsibility for our lives and really make that decision in alignment with who we truly are.

Because life is too short to be randomly walking your path, now is the time to head in the direction you want to go and seize everyday.

There are amazing things that lay ahead of you and I know you can achieve whatever you want to in life! It is possible.
