Today I am discussing everything social media related… Do you think it is bad?? Is it good? Can we find a healthy balance in our lives?
I start this podcast episode with a little introduction about why I do yoga and I share how teaching my first ever (!) yoga class went.. The lesson: you can do ANYTHING you want to, don’t be scared! The second lesson: It is ok to get messy!! That is what life is all about.
I go on to talk about technology and social media.. I explain why I have been ‘technology free’ (basically only using technology for very specific use) the past couple of days and how it has made me feel. The benefits of this that I outline are:
– better sleep
– connect with others
– connect more deeply to yourself
– feel purposeful
I talk about the pros and cons of social media..
Pros for me are: inspiration, connection, expanding consciousness and awareness
Cons for me are: comparison, evoking feelings of unworthiness, hate comments, ‘fake-ness’
I have a little bit of a rant about Instagram and how we all need to feel good enough RIGHT NOW, rather than comparing ourselves to others. It is REAL TALK on SELF LOVE (and I get completely into it!)
I finally end on the point that for me social media is a good opportunity to look at my own life and go more deeply into myself, exploring my emotions and reactions to everything I see.
