I am very grateful to be able to say that I have changed my life. When I think back to this time last year, I was in a horrible place: I was confused and had no idea where I was going in life; my relationships were crumbling around me and I was struggling with my eating disorder once again… Fast forward exactly a year and now I am the happiest I have ever been- I wake up each morning feeling excited for the day and I feel as though I get to live the life that I choose, rather than settling for something that I am not happy with. I seriously feel as though I am living my dream life right now!

There are 5 things that have changed my life. By doing them consistently everyday they come together to have a huuuuugggge impact on my life, and now I know that I cannot live with out them.

Here are the 5 things that I do everyday to change my life:

1. Meditate

So I meditate everyday. This helps me because it quietens my mind, especially my inner critic. I am able to feel calmer and less anxious in my life when I am in the present moment and not stuck in my head. Without negative thoughts holding me back I have been able to do the things that previously I had only ever dreamed about.

Meditation is life changing, but in order to be effective it does need to be done every single day. Even if you just meditate for 5 minutes every morning, remember that this is better than nothing!

I have several blog posts all about meditation if you are interested in finding out more..

What are the different types of meditation?

How To Start A Meditation Practice

How do you meditate for the first time?

Try out meditation and see if it works for you! My best tips are to start small (1 minute at a time) and do it first thing in the morning.. then build up from there.

2. Practice yoga

I practice yoga every single day. Last year when I was feeling very lost, yoga brought me back to myself. Yoga was the first step to my healing process and I am always so grateful to it for bringing me where I am now.

I love yoga because it healed me physically, mentally and spiritually. It brings the three together. Yoga means union, and it is exactly that – the union of your physical, mental and spiritual- the union of the body, mind and soul.

There are many different types of yoga, this means that there is something out there for everyone. You don’t have to be flexible or strong. You don’t even have to have a mat. All you need is 5 minutes and some space on the floor and you will be able to practice yoga. My favourite thing to do is to put some good music on and let my body flow however it wants too.

If you want to learn more about yoga or begin your own practice then I recommend this book by Baron Baptiste called Journey into Power. It is an awesome book and has all the poses with photos and detailed descriptions of the correct alignment. He also talks about meditation and diet in the book as well, so on an overall level it is really transformational!

3. Read

I read every single day and I love reading so so much. Reading inspiring and thought provoking books has changed my life. They have opened my eyes up to the world and all the possibilities that are available to us, I wouldn’t be here today if it weren’t for these books.

These are the books that have changed my life the most:

Note- this is my shortened list.. I have so so so many more inspirational books which have changed my life. To see the full list click HERE.

I am currently reading an amazing book called Committed by Elizabeth Gilbert. I am currently in love with her. So much. Committed is the sequel to Eat, Pray, Love – so if you haven’t read that yet I would highly recommend it because it is just incredible. It makes me want to travel so much and I think I read it in about a day because it was that good!

4. Self love practice

I have a self love practice which has changed my life. I practice self love because it is my super power. Without self love I have no energy and I cannot love others if I do not love myself. When I actively love myself then I can achieve anything!

My self love practice consists of forgiving myself for anything I do wrong. I acknowledge that it is ok and part of life to make mistakes. So I forgive myself.

I also repeat kind words and thoughts to myself. Any negative thoughts I swap out immediately for a kind one. I am diligent on this because I know the importance of words. positive words attract positive experiences so make sure you are speaking to yourself kindly.

When I read Mel Well’s book The Goddess Revolution that completely changed my whole view of myself. She talks about self love in a way that I had never thought about it before, and eventually it took hold! I have never looked back and with self love I have overcame my eating disorder and I am now more in love with myself than ever.

5. Gratitude

What can I say about this.

Not a lot.

All I have to say is just be grateful. Be grateful for all that you have and all that you don’t have. Be grateful for the manifest and the un-manifest. Because nothing is stable on this planet and sooner or later we are going to lose some of the things that we have in our lives, so just be grateful for them now.

When I started turning my attention to everything that I had to be grateful for rather than everything that I didn’t have, I got a whole lot happier. Gratitude rewires your brain and you become a different person. You see things in a new way all through gratitude.

I write a gratitude journal. I also say it out loud whenever it comes to me. Finally I always always seek out the gratitude in any situation in life.

This is how I use gratitude everyday to change my life. . .
